Carbon Hearing Aids: 1900-1939

Auris Model II Carbon Hearing Aid

The Auris Model II carbon hearing aid was made by the Auris Company, Inc. of New York, NY  in 1912. In fact, this was the second of only 4 models the Auris Co. made.

The complete unit weighed 4.9 oz. without the battery.

The name "Auris" is engraved at the top center.

The microphone measured 2⅜" in diameter by ⅞" thick, and only weighed 1.3 oz.

Engraved on the front face are the words "Auris" (top) and "The Auris Company, New York" and below that, "Patents Pending".

The earphone measured 2" in diameter by 13/16" thick. It was relatively heavy, weighing 3.2 oz.
