Hearing Aid Batteries

Mallory TR-136R Mercury Hearing Aid Battery

The Mallory Duracell TR-136R 8.1 volt mercury battery was used in an auditory trainer somewhere around 1970.

It weighed 2.8 oz., and measured 3 15/16" high by ⅝" in diameter.

Mercury batteries are no longer sold today because of the large quantities of mercury in them and the consequent environmental concerns.

8.10 volts was an unusual figure. If this battery was made up of six 1.4 volt cells the voltage should have been 8.4 volts.

The "1" may indicate the diameter class as the Mallory RM-1 battery was ⅝" in diameter also.
