Hearing Aid Batteries

Radio Shack No. 23-585 ("N" size) Hearing Aid Battery

The Radio Shack No. 23-585 carbon-zinc 1˝ volt size "N" battery was made for Radio Shack, a division of the Tandy Corp. of Fort Worth, TX  by a Japanese company around 1965.

The Radio Shack No. 23-585 battery weighed 0.15 oz. (5 g). It measured 1 3/16" high by 7/16" in diameter (2.9 x 1.1 cm).

"N"-sized batteries were commonly used in transistor body aids in the 1950s and 1960s.

They are still used for some assistive listening devices today.
