Hearing Aid Battery Testers

Sonotone (Lamp) Battery Tester

This Sonotone (lamp) battery tester was designed to test Sonotone 3 volt and 4˝ volt batteries commonly used in carbon hearing aids made in the 1920s and 1930s.

To use it, you plugged it into the battery in question. Some of the batteries in those days had pin sockets. For example, the Sonotone X65 was one such battery.

Close up of the Sonotone battery tester showing the light on the top. The brighter the light shone, the better the charge in the battery. If the lamp glowed brightly, the battery was good, if it glowed dimly, the battery was just about worn out, and if it didn't glow at all, the battery was dead.
