Conversation Tubes

Globe Auditube

The Globe Auditube was manufactured by the Globe Ear-Phone Company around 1912.

This conversation tube is 45 inches in length and has a bell opening of 2.5 inches.

It was apparently produced in three sizes, priced $5.00, $5.50 and $6.00 for the small, medium and large. (The one shown here is likely the large one, but can't be sure.)

It uses a diaphragm ear piece which provides a high frequency boost to the listener. This diaphragm ear piece is similar to that employed on the Otophone made by E.B. Meyrowitz around 1887.
