Ear Trumpets (Ear Horns)

French Celluloid Conical Telescoping Ear Trumpet (Ear Horn)

This French-made conical or "pointed dome" telescoping ear trumpet is a bit unusual  in that the dome comes to a point, rather than rounded as was much more common. It was made of "faux tortoiseshell" celluloid including the ear tip.

Date of manufacture is unknown, but it was probably somewhere around 1900.

The dome of this ear trumpet is 3¾" (9.6 cm) high, while its overall height with the ear tube collapsed to its shortest position is 4½" (11.4 cm). In its most practical extended position it measures 6" (15.2 cm). The grill end measures 2¾" (7.0 cm) in diameter.

This word is located on the opposite side of the dome from the ear tube.

An extendible ear tube was not all that common in domed ear trumpets.

Note: This was rather unusual as most ear trumpets had ear tips made out of different materials from their bodies.
