Small Brass London Dome Ear Trumpet (Ear Horn)
This London Dome Ear trumpet is made of brass with a hard rubber “gutta percha” ear tip.
This style of trumpet was named because of its similarity in shape to
the dome on St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England.
The design is a parabolic reflector into an ear tube which achieves
considerable gain while maintaining a small size.
This ear trumpet measures 1¾" across the bell. The dome itself is
1⅞"
high, while the height to the top of the ear piece is 3". This
trumpet has the smallest dome of all the London Dome trumpets in the
museum.
The manufacturer is unknown. This London Dome probably dates to
somewhere around 1900.
