Hybrid Vacuum Tube/Transistor Hearing Aids

Dahlberg D-5 "Standard" Hybrid Hearing Aid

The Dahlberg D-5 "Standard" hybrid was the first hearing aid produced by Dahlberg Electronics, Inc. of Minneapolis using a transistor in its circuitry. It came out in 1953.

The D-5 "Standard" hybrid used 2 CK549DX miniature hearing aid vacuum tubes plus one CK718 transistor for the output stage.

This hearing aid’s chrome case measured 2½" by 1¾" by ⅞" and weighed 7 oz. with batteries.

The picture at the right shows the battery compartment door open.
