Body Type Transistor Hearing Aids

Maico Model AE (Transist-Ear 95) Transistor (Body) Hearing Aid

The Maico Model AE was manufactured by Maico Electronics, Inc. of Minneapolis, MN in 1956. The name "Maico" was derived from the initials of the Medical Acoustic Instrument Company.

It was a 3-transistor hearing aid. It measured 2⅞" x 1⅞" x ⅞" thick.

The microphone was located on the top. The volume control/on-off switch is on the left side near the top.

The Maico Model AE used a 1½ volt Number 1015 carbon-zinc battery that was the same size as our modern AA batteries.
