Maico Model R Transistor (Body) Hearing Aid
The Maico Model R was manufactured by Maico Electronics, Inc. of
Minneapolis, MN in 1954. The name "Maico" was derived from the
initials of the Medical Acoustic Instrument Company.
It was a 3-transistor hearing aid. The front of the case was
stainless steel and the back plastic. It measured 2½" x 1¾" x
¾" thick.
The microphone was located on the front near the top. There are 4
little horizontal slots to let the sound in.
