Zenith "Vocalizer" Transistor (Body) Hearing Aid

The Zenith "Vocalizer" transistor body-style hearing aid was manufactured by the Hearing Aid Division of the Zenith Radio Corp. in 1965. It contained 6 transistors.

The Zenith "Vocalizer" measured 2˝" x 1⅝" x 11/16" (6.4 x 4.2 x 1.7 cm), and weighed 1.5 oz. (42 g) without the battery.

The attractive case of the Zenith "Vocalizer" was shiny aluminum with a brown wood-grain insert on the bottom half of the front. The microphone grill was an inverted keystone shape with the Zenith logo in a circle on the front.

The wire pocket clip frames the microphone grill.

This hearing aid took an "N" size 1.4 volt No. 401 mercury battery.

The note on the inside of the battery compartment door of the Zenith "Vocalizer" transistor hearing aid reads, "Note: Unit designed for Mercury-Type 401 Batteries. Suggest ZM-401 for best results."
