Beltone "Avanti" Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aid The Beltone "Avanti" behind-the-ear hearing aid was produced by the Beltone Electronics Corp. of Chicago, IL in 1985. This hearing aid used a push-pull (PP) amplifier. The forward-facing microphone port is in the clear plastic above the ear hook. | | Click picture for larger view
Rear view of the Beltone "Avanti". Notice the small circle in the plastic where the optional directional microphone could be installed (top). The volume control was in the center and immediately below it is the 3-position "M" (microphone), MT (both microphone and t-coil at the same time) and "T" t-coil switch. The line of 3 vertical holes below the t-switch doesn't seem to serve any purpose in this model. | | Click picture for larger view
Rear view of the Beltone "Avanti" showing the adjustment cover door which swung up to reveal 3 adjusting screws. The "P" red screw (top) was for adjusting the power output between 112 and 133 dB. The blue screw (center) was for adjusting the tone from low to high, while the "G" green screw (bottom) was for adjusting the gain from min. to max. The battery door at the bottom (right) swung up. This hearing aid used a No. 675 battery. The battery door acted as the on-off switch when pulled out from the back, but to change the battery you pulled it out from the front. | | Click picture for larger view
