In the Ear (ITE) Transistor Hearing Aids

Telex Model 23 "Electron Ear" ITE Hearing Aid

Telex Communications, Inc. of Minneapolis, MN manufactured a number of tiny At-The-Ear hearing aids between 1965 and 1971.

They were all referred to as "Electron Ear." The model shown appears to be the Model 23 produced in 1965. The overall dimensions of the body of the aid are ¾" by ½" by 3/8".

Its receiver or transducer is attached to the body of the aid by wires and is covered by a soft plastic material. This was inserted in the ear canal with the body of the aid sitting just inside the pinna.

It used a 312 size battery fitting inside a small battery door (shown open with no battery) similar to that used on modern In-The-Ear aids.
