Hearing Aid Batteries

Unknown Carbon Hearing Aid Battery (3)

This unnamed carbon-zinc 3-volt hearing aid battery was used in carbon hearing aids around 1937.

This battery weighed 7.0 oz (198 g), and measured 3˝" high by 2 3/16" wide by 1⅛" thick (8.9 x 5.6 x 2.9 cm).

This battery came with a Gem Model 30 Standard "4" carbon hearing aid.

This battery is identical in size and terminal placement to the Gem 1A battery.

Note that the left terminal is thicker (⅛") than the right terminal (3/32") to prevent this battery being plugged in backwards and thus reversing the polarity.

The terminals are set 1" (2.5 cm) apart.
