Brass Ear Trumpet (Ear Horn)
This small brass reflecting ear trumpet is similar in style to the
London Domes. Like the London Domes, these were designed to reduce the
size of the trumpet so they could be cupped in the hand when held to the
ear. They were also smaller to carry. This example has a fine wire mesh grill
over the bell opening.
This ear trumpet measures 2˝" across the bell. The dome itself is
3˝"
high, while the height to the top of the ear piece is 4".
The manufacturer is unknown. This ear trumpet probably dates from
somewhere around 1890. |
